GULF COOPERATION COUNCIL (GCC) FOREIGN MINISTERS AND THEIR COUNTERPARTS IN THE ASSOCIATION OF SOUTH EAST ASIAN NATIONS (ASEAN) HELD THEIR ANNUAL MEETING ON THE FRINGES OF 61ST SESSION OF THE UNITED NATIONS GENERAL ASSEMBLY IN NEW YORK TODAY. ON THE GCC SIDE, THE MEETING WAS CHAIRED BY SHEIKH ABDULLAH BIN ZAID AL NAHAYAN, MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS OF THE UNITED ARAB EMIRATES, THE CURRENT ROTATING CHAIRMAN OF THE GCC MINISTERIAL COUNCIL, AND ON THE ASEAN SIDE, IT WAS CHAIRED BY ALBERTO ROMOLO, FOREIGN MINISTER OF THE PHILIPPINES, ASEAN'S CURRENT ROTATING CHAIRMAN. ABDULRAHMAN BIN HAMAD AL-ATIYYAH, GCC SECRETARY GENERAL WAS ALSO PRESENT, JOINING THE GCC GROUP. DURING THE MEETING, A NUMBER OF ISSUES OF MUTUAL CONCERN, INCLUDING SITUATIONS IN IRAQ AND PALESTINIAN TERRITORIES, RESULTS OF WAR ON LEBANON STAGED BY ISRAEL, COMBATING OF TERRORISM IN ADDITION OF ECONOMIC, COMMERCIAL AND INVESTMENT FIELDS, WERE DISCUSSED.
