THE LEBANESE GOVERNMENT SUNDAY ACCUSED ISRAEL OF WAR CRIMES AND CRIMES AGAINST HUMANITY FOLLOWING AN ISRAELI AIRSTRIKE ON THE VILLAGE OF QANA THAT KILLED 56 CIVILIANS, DPA REPORTED. "THESE AGGRESSIONS ARE CRIMES AGAINST HUMANITY AND WAR CRIMES IN ALL SENSES OF THE WORDS," INFORMATION MINISTER GHAZI ARIDI SAID, READING A STATEMENT AFTER AN EMERGENCY CABINET SESSION FOLLOWING THE RAIDS DURING WHICH WERE CIVILIANS KILLED, INCLUDING 30 CHILDREN. "SUCH AN ACTION IS TO HIDE (ISRAEL'S) FAILURE IN ACHIEVING ITS MILITARY OBJECTIVES," HE SAID. LEBANESE PRIME MINISTER FOUAD SENIORA CALLED AN EMERGENCY MEETING OF THE UNITED NATIONS SECURITY COUNCIL, APPEALING TO THE UN TO "PUT AN END TO THE VIOLENCE IN LEBANON."
