The Council of the Arab ambassadors, which comprises the ambassadors of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Kuwait met here the undersecretary of the Australian foreign ministry, Michael Leister Young, to deliver him a memorandum containing the Arab view vis-a-vis the continuation of the Israeli aggression on Lebanon. The memorandum urged the Australian government to work for immediate ceasefire and start of negotiations for the release of the prisoners of war (POWs). The memorandum also underlined the importance of supporting the Arab peace initiative and the efforts of the Lebanese government to spread its authority throughout the Lebanese territories. The memorandum held Israel responsible of the destruction of infrastructure installations in Lebanon, and attributed the current repercussions to the continuation of the Israeli occupation of the Arab territories.
