TAIWAN'S CENTRAL WEATHER BUREAU ON SUNDAY ISSUED A SEA AND LAND WARNING FOR TYPHOON KAEMI, WHICH COULD REACH THE ISLAND ON TUESDAY,DPA REPORTED. "KAEMI WILL BEGIN TO AFFECT TAIWAN MONDAY EVENING. IT WILL HIT TAIWAN THE HARDEST MONDAY NIGHT AND THROUGHOUT TUESDAY," WEATHERMAN LU KUO-CHEN SAID. THE EYE OF THE TYPHOON WAS BY 11 PM (1500 GMT) SOME 480 KILOMETRES SOUTH-EAST OF TAIWAN. MOVING AT 17 KILOMETRES PER HOUR IN A NORTH- WESTERLY DIRECTION, KAEMI WAS PACKING CENTRAL WINDS OF 137 KPH AND GUSTS OF 173 KPH, THE CENTRAL WEATHER BUREAU SAID. KAEMI COMES HARD ON THE HEELS OF LAST WEEK'S TYPHOON BILIS WHICH KILLED AT LEAST 14 PEOPLE IN THE PHILIPPINES, FIVE IN TAIWAN AND 523 IN CHINA .
