Typhoon Nock-Ten approached Taiwan Sunday, bringing strong winds and heavy rain that already left one person missing at sea. A fisherman fell from his bamboo raft off Taiwan's northeast coast in stormy weather caused by the typhoon, police said. By six p.m. (1000 GMT), Nock-Ten - a Laotian word for bird - was 330 kilometers southeast of Taitung on the southeast coast, the Central Weather Bureau said. Moving at 25 kilometers per hour, Nock-Ten was heading northwest, packing center winds of 155 kph and gusts of 190 kph. The Civil Aeronautics Administration said all domestic flights would be cancelled Monday, but international flights would be unaffected.
