THE EUROPEAN UNION SAID IT "STRONGLY CONDEMNS" TUESDAY'S TRAIN BOMBINGS IN MUMBAI AND OFFERED ITS SYMPATHY TO THE VICTIMS. A STATEMENT ISSUED LATE TUESDAY BY FINLAND AS THE CURRENT HOLDER OF THE EU PRESIDENCY SAID THE UNION OFFERED ITS CONDOLENCES TO THE GOVERNMENT OF INDIA, "SYMPATHY TO THE FAMILIES, RELATIVES AND FRIENDS OF THOSE WHO HAVE DIED AND WISHES (FOR) A SPEEDY RECOVERY TO THOSE WHO WERE INJURED IN THESE ATROCITIES." THE GERMAN NEWS AGENCY 'DPA' QUOTED THE EU AS SAYING IT WAS "IMPORTANT THAT THOSE RESPONSIBLE FOR THESE BARBAROUS ACTS OF TERRORISM WILL BE BROUGHT TO JUSTICE. THERE CAN NEVER BE JUSTIFICATION FOR SUCH HEINOUS ATTACKS ON INNOCENT CIVILIANS."
