The World Assembly of Muslim Youth (WAMY) has strongly condemned the recent terror attacks in Mumbai, the financial capital of India. Dr. Salah Al-Wohaiby, WAMY secretary general offered his sympathies and condolences to the Indian government and the relatives of those innocent victims of the terror attacks that killed around 200 people. “WAMY offers its sympathies to the Indian government and the innocent victims, especially to the family members of those who died in the deadly massacre,” Dr. Wohaiby said in a statement. He said killing of innocent civilians, who included Indian nationals and foreign tourists visiting Mumbai, was against the teachings of Islam. The WAMY chief described the 60-hour long siege of the important landmarks as a heinous crime that violated the Prophet's teachings which unequivocally called for protection of human dignity. “The heinous crime (Mumbai terror attacks) violated the Shariah teachings, which call for the protection of religion, life, honor, and property of a person. It was a barbaric and inhuman attack on innocent people,” Dr. Al-Wohaibi said referring to Mumbai terror attacks. Dr. Wohaibi said certain people who resorted to evil acts ended up only in strengthening the hands of the enemies of Islam. He urged such deviants to desist from wrongdoings and pay attention to what the religious scholars have to say and return back to the path of righteousness. The WAMY chief also appealed to Islamic scholars to educate these misguided youth and bring them back intothe mainstream. He said the terrorist acts have been counterproductive and may antagonize the countries where Muslims are living as minorities.
