Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, was accorded a red-carpet welcome when he arrived here Monday on a two-day visit to Pakistan. President General Pervez Musharraf received the distinguished guest at the PAF base Chaklala, the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) reported. This is the first state visit by the Kuwaiti Emir to Pakistan and it is part of his four-nation Asian tour. The last visit of Kuwaiti Emir to Pakistan took place in 1980. Sheikh Sabah is scheduled to hold comprehensive talks with the President Pervez Musharraf later in the day on a range of issues of interest and concern to both countries. Some bilateral cooperation agreements are expected to be signed during the visit, aiming to further bolster bilateral relations, specifically in the economic and investment areas. President Musharraf will also host a banquet in the honour of the visiting dignitary. The Kuwaiti Emir will also meet Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz later today who will also host him on a lunch. Kuwait is Pakistan's third largest economic partner in the Arab Gulf Cooperation Council, after Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). It is also a principal source of oil and petroleum products for Pakistan.
