TWELVE CARRIAGES OF A GOODS TRAIN WERE DERAILED IN A BOMB ATTACK BY KURDISH REBELS ON A TRAIN LINE IN SOUTH-EASTERN TURKEY ON SUNDAY, DPA REPORTED. THERE WERE NO REPORTS OF CASUALTIES IN THE BLAST WHICH DESTROYED EIGHT CARRIAGES, ACCORDING TO THE TURKISH NEWS AGENCY ANDALOU. THE EXPLOSIVE DEVICE WHICH HAD BEEN PLACED BETWEEN THE TRACKS DETONATED AS THE GOODS TRAIN FROM ELAZIG TO MUS PASSED OVER IT DURING THE NIGHT. A 20-METRE STRETCH OF THE RAILWAY TRACK WAS DESTROYED BY THE BOMB.
