EARLIER, THE U.S. COMMAND SAID A SOLDIER FROM THE 172ND STRYKER BRIGADE COMBAT TEAM, PART OF TASK FORCE BAND OF BROTHERS, WAS KILLED BY SMALL ARMS FIRE MONDAY IN MOSUL, 360 KILOMETERS (225 MILES) NORTHWEST OF BAGHDAD. THE DEATH RAISES TO 2,469 THE NUMBER OF U.S. MILITARY MEMBERS WHO HAVE DIED SINCE THE WAR STARTED IN 2003, ACCORDING TO AN ASSOCIATED PRESS COUNT.
