POLICE IN SOUTH AFRICA WERE ON FRIDAY SEARCHING FOR A SCHOOLBOY WHO SHOT AND INJURED TWO OF HIS SCHOOLMATES ON A BUS TRANSPORTING CHILDREN IN THE COUNTRY'S KWAZULU NATAL PROVINCE, DPA REPORTED. THE UNIDENTIFIED MATRIC OR FINAL YEAR STUDENT AT THE PINETOWN BOYS HIGH SCHOOL WAS REPORTEDLY PLAYING WITH A REVOLVER ON THE BUS WHEN A SHOT OR SHOTS WENT OFF WOUNDING TWO OTHER BOYS. ONE OF THE BOYS, A 17-YEAR-OLD WAS HIT IN THE FACE AND A SECOND WAS HIT IN THE SHOULDER. THE FORMER WAS IN A CRITICAL CONDITION IN HOSPITAL, ACCORDING TO THE SAPA NEWS AGENCY. WHEN THE BUS DRIVER HEARD THE GUNSHOT, HE PULLED OVER NEAR A POLICE STATION IN PINETOWN. AT THIS POINT, THE ARMED PUPIL RAN AWAY, ACCORDING TO THE REPORT. THE AGENCY QUOTED OTHER PUPILS SAYING THE UNIDENTIFIED BOY HAD TAKEN THE GUN OUT AND TWIRLED IT AROUND HIS FINGER, TRIGGERING THE SHOT.
