In the presence of Sri Lanka's Minister of Housing & Construction Ferial Ashraff and Saudi Ambassador to Sri Lanka and Maldives Mohammad bin Mahmoud Al-Ali, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed today by Regional Director of the Saudi Charity Campaign Yousef Rahmah and Sri Lanka's Reconstruction Agency to implement the project of building 500 housing units for the tsunami-affected people. This will be the first stage of the project which will construct 1000 housing units under the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz and the supervision of Prince Naif bin Abdulaziz, the Interior Minister. It was decided that the housing complex will be named "King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud City" in recognition of his great humanitarian role. The city will include a mosque, a medical center, separate schools for males and females in Ambara governorate eastern Sri Lanka. Ferial Ashraff expressed her gratitude to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the Saudi government for their constant support stressing that the project will ease the suffering of tsunami victims.
