AT LEAST 30 PEOPLE WERE INJURED, ONE SERIOUSLY, IN
A SUSPECTED BOMB BLAST IN THE ISTANBUL SUBURB OF BAKIRKOY SUNDAY
EVENING, THE ANADOLU NEWS AGENCY REPORTED.
ACCORDING TO BAKIRKOY MUNICIPAL COUNCIL CHIEF ATES UNAL, POLICE
WERE INVESTIGATING WHETHER THE BLAST WAS CAUSED BY A PARCEL LEFT
UNATTENDED ON A MAIN STREET, DPA REPORTED.
"FROM WHAT I KNOW THIS IS NOT AN ACCIDENT BUT FOR THE MOMENT WE
CANNOT BE SURE," UNAL TOLD THE DOGAN NEWS AGENCY.
IN THE IMMEDIATE AFTERMATH OF THE SUSPECTED BOMBING NO GROUP
CLAIMED RESPONSIBILTY FOR THE BLAST.
