MINISTER OF HEALTH DR HAMAD BIN ABDULLAH AL-MANEI HAS HAILED THE EXISTING COOPERATION BETWEEN THE SAUDI HEALTH MINISTRY AND THE WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION (WHO). IN A PRESS STATEMENT FOLLOWING A CEREMONY ORGANIZED BY THE SAUDI COMMISSION FOR HEALTH SPECIALIZATIONS ON THE OCCASION OF THE INTERNATIONAL HEALTH DAY HERE ON SATURDAY, DR AL-MANEI UNDERSCORED THE IMPORTANT ROLE BEING PLAYED BY WHO IN COMBATING DISEASES NOTABLY IN THE POOR COUNTRIES. 'WHO SHOULD PLAY A SIGNIFICANT ROLE IN THIS RESPECT THROUGH PROVIDING THE POOR COUNTRIES WITH THE REQUIRED MEDICINES SO AS TO ENABLE THEM CONFRONT EPIDEMICS LIKE BIRD FLU AD AIDS', HE SAID. DR AL-MANEI CONFIRMED THAT THE KINGDOM OF SAUDI ARABIA IS FREE FROM ANY HUMAN INFECTION BY THE BIRD FLU. IT IS WORTH MENTIONING THAT THE INTERNATIONAL HEALTH DAY IS OBSERVED THIS YEAR UNDER THE MOTTO OF 'WORK TOGETHER FOR HEALTH'.
