A church structure near the Ugandan capital Kampala collapsed Wednesday killing at least 21 people and injuring around the same number, police officials told Deutsche Presse- Agentur. Rescue teams were still pulling out bodies and rushing the injured to hospitals Wednesday evening. More fatalities were expected, said the police spokesman Asuman Mugenyi. The members of a Pentecostal organization were worshipping in the church in Karerwe suburb, 4 kilometres north of Kampala, when the structure collapsed during a heavy downpour, trapping scores of people inside. The police official said that an investigation would take place but authorities suspect that poor construction might be one of the causes of the accident.
