A strong earthquake struck waters off Fiji Islands in the South Pacific Sunday, Hong Kong seismologists said. It was not immediately clear if the tremor caused any casualties or damages. The magnitude-6.5 quake was recorded at 11:20 a.m. (0320 GMT) Sunday and the epicenter was located about 630 kilometers (391 miles) southwest of the Fijian capital of Suva, the Hong Kong Observatory said in a brief statement quoted by the Associated Press. Fiji is regularly hit by earthquakes as its 332 islands _ about 110 of which are inhabited _ sit in an active seismic area in the South Pacific.
