Pakistan will provide two television transmitters to Afghanistan next month. Pakistan's Information Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed told Afghan Minister for Information and Culture Dr Sayyed Makhdoom Raheem during a meeting in Islamabad that Pakistan and Afghanistan enjoy long-term friendly and brotherly relations. Pakistan has already provided two radio transmitters to Afghanistan. The minister said people from both sides would benefit from these transmitters after their proposed installation in Afghan province of Kandhar bordering Pakistan. Ahmed said these boosters would help further strengthen the bilateral relations between two brotherly Islamic countries. He said provision of these transmitters to Afghanistan is yet another step towards promoting cooperation. The minister said that the Pakistan Television was going to start a Pushto channel that will telecast programmes in Pushto and Hinko languages. The Afghan Minister appreciated Pakistan's cooperation with Afghanistan in rebuilding and reconstruction as well as restoration of democracy. "I consider Pakistan as my second home," Raheem said recalling the days he had spent in Pakistan. He said Pakistan and Afghanistan enjoy strong brotherly relations that will further cement during days ahead.
