Pakistan and Spain have held wide-ranging discussions on issues including terrorism and nuclear nonproliferation and agreed to explore avenues of further cooperation bilaterally and at the multinational forums, says an official statement. A delegation from Spain led by Anger Lossada, Director General for international affairs, held talks on issues of mutual interest at the Pakistan ministry of foreign affairs in Islamabad. The Pakistan side was led by Tariq Osman Hyder Additional Secretary, United Nations. The statement said the two sides exchanged views on bilateral relations, U.N. reforms, counter-terrorism cooperation, disarmament, nonproliferation and the peaceful uses of nuclear energy. The Spanish side, which is currently chairing the Missile Technology Control Regime (MTCR), and is a member of the Nuclear Supply Group (NSG), expressed appreciation that Pakistan's export control lists have included the MTCR criteria along with those of the NSG, which constitutes a good foundation for further interaction of both groups with Pakistan. The two sides agreed to hold similar consultations on a regular basis.
