More than 50 people were injured as violence erupted on the streets of the Bangladeshi capital Dhaka Saturday ahead of a country wide shutdown called by the opposition, police and witnesses said, according to DPA. Fierce clashes broke out between riot police and stone throwing protesters after police stopped a street march by opposition activists by setting up road blocks. Police fired teargas shells to disperse opposition activists assembling at the central headquarters of the Awami League in Dhaka.
