Scores of police officers were deployed at the headquarters of Bangladesh's national Election Commission Sunday following violent clashes between security forces and opposition protesters in central Dhaka, officials said, according to DPA. Fierce street fighting erupted as riot police prevented thousands of activists of the opposition Awami League from marching on the Election Commission. Raging battles between police firing teargas shells and stone throwing protesters left at least 50 people injured, eye witnesses said.
