The communique also called for quickly completing requirements for the establishment of the GCC common market by end of 2007, and approved reports of the financial and economic committee and the committee of central bank governors on standards for the establishment of the monetary union and to refer this to the next summit. The GCC also looked into a number of studies on water linkage among member states, establishing a railway network, as well af issuing a unified identification card (smart card), and enacting common precautionary measures to combat bird flu. As for cooperation with Yemen, the GCC is to support the country by financing development projects and work for convening a conference to probe investment opportunities in Yemen.
