PRESIDED OVER BY ITS CHAIRMAN DR. SALIH BIN ABDULLAH BIN HOMAID, THE SHOURA COUNCIL HELD ITS 77TH ORDINARY SESSION IN RIYADH TODAY. FOLLOWING THE MEETING, THE SECRETARY GENERAL OF THE SHOURA COUNCIL DR. SALIH BIN ABDULLAH ALMALIK SAID IN A STATEMENT TO THE SAUDI PRESS AGENCY THAT, AT THE OUTSET OF THE SESSION, THE CHAIRMAN OF THE COUNCIL LAUDED THE EFFORTS BEING EXERTED BY THE CUSTODIAN OF THE TWO HOLY MOSQUES KING ABDULLAH BIN ABDULAZIZ TOWARDS CONSOLIDATING THE PILLARS OF THE SAUDI NATIONAL ECONOMY AND CONTINUING ITS GROWING DRIVE FOR THE BENEFIT OF CITIZENS. THE COUNCIL APPROVED NAMING ITS SUBCOMMITTEES FOR THE SECOND YEAR OF ITS FOURTH SESSION WHICH COMMENCES NEXT WEEK. THE AGREEMENT ON BARRING OR RESTRICTING THE USAGE OF SPECIFIC TRADITIONAL WEAPONS THAT ARE CONSIDERED EXTREMELY HARMFUL OR WITH ABRUPT EFFECTS AND ITS APPENDICES WERE APPROVED BY THE COUNCIL. THE SHOURA COUNCIL ALSO DISCUSSED THE ANNUAL REPORT ON THE PERFORMANCE OF THE CONTROL AND GENERAL INVESTIGATIONS COMMISSION FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 1424 - 1425 H. DISCUSSIONS WILL CONTINUE AT A FUTURE SESSION ON A REPORT PRESENTED BY THE FOREIGN AFFAIRS COMMITTEE ON THE ACCESSION OF YEMEN TO SOME GCC INSTITUTIONS.
