One fireman died and three workers were injured after an explosion and fire at a chemicals factory in the southern Germany on Saturday, police said, according to Reuters. Heinz Rindelbacher, spokesman for Ingolstadt police, said the works fireman died from injuries sustained while trying to extinguish the blaze at Petrochemie Muenchsmuenster in the southern state of Bavaria. One worker was being treated for burns at a hospital in Munich while two others sustained slight injuries. According to a notice posted on Bavarian television's teletext service at 1733 GMT, police urged residents of Muenchsmuenster not to leave their homes because of a large cloud of unknown chemical composition. Rindelbacher said, however, there was no serious danger. According to preliminary information, the fire appeared to have started in a building belonging to engineering firm ThyssenKrupp located near several chemical companies, he said.
