A 26-year-old-worker died Sunday from injuries he sustained some three weeks ago during a blaze at a Turin steel factory which has now claimed seven victims, according to DPA. Giuseppe Demasi suffered fatal heart failure said news reports quoting officials at Turin's CTO hospital where the worker was being treated. Demasi was severely burnt when a fire broke out at the ThyssenKrupp steel plant. One worker Antonio Schiavone was killed during the blaze while five others - Roberto Scola, Angelo Laurino, Bruno Santino, Rocco Marzo and Rosario Rodino - died subsequently in hospital. Survivors have said that several fire extinguishers at the factory were empty, but Germany-based ThyssenKrupp has denied violating safety standards. Authorities are still investigating the incident which cast the spotlight on workplace deaths in Italy and has prompted demonstrations and stayaways by workers demanding greater safety. Over 980 people have died in workplace-related deaths in Italy during 2007.
