Kuwait Foreign Minister Dr Mohammed Al-Sabah has underlined the importance of the extraordinary Islamic Summit, due to be inaugurated in Makkah on Wednesday. Prior to his departure from Kuwait to Jeddah to participate in the preparatory meeting of the Islamic foreign ministers, Dr Al-Sabah said the convening of the Summit comes at a time when the Muslim nation faces serious challenges. He noted that the teachings of Islam run counter to extremism and terrorism. Dr Al-Sabah pointed out that the Summit will review a number of topics including means for activating the role of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) as well as promoting economic cooperation among the OIC states. He praised the call of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for establishing a center for fighting terrorism.
