A British soldier was killed and four others were wounded in a roadside bomb attack in southern Iraq on Sunday, the Defense Ministry said. The attack occurred at 0930 GMT somewhere in the Basra area, a ministry spokesman said. The conditions of the injured soldiers were not immediately available, the spokesman said. Basra is the main base for British forces in southern Iraq. None of the soldiers' names were released because authorities were still notifying their families, the ministry said. The death brings the number of British troops killed in Iraq to 98, according to the defense ministry as quoted by the Associated Press.
