A British soldier has been killed and another wounded in the southern Iraqi city of Basra, the Ministry of Defense said on Monday. A spokeswoman said a "soldier from the Royal Army Medical Corps was killed and another seriously injured following an indirect fire attack on a multinational forces base in Basra city". The attack took place on Sunday. The injured soldier was receiving medical treatment, she said. No further details were available. Britain has around 7,200 troops in southern Iraq, mostly stationed in and around Basra, Reuters reported.
