UN Secretary General Kofi Annan and President General Pervez Musharraf had a telephonic conversation, discussing relief operations in the earthquake-afflicted areas of Azad Kashmir and North West Frontier Province (NWFP) in view of severe cold in the region, officials said. They discussed this week's Geneva conference in the context of international response to Pakistan's worst natural disaster and also exchanged views on next month's donors' conference being held in Islamabad. Musharraf thanked Annan for his personal interest and leading efforts in enlisting international support for large-scale relief operations following the October 8 tragedy that claimed more than 54000 lives and left millions of people shelterless. The UN Chief, who is expected to visit Pakistan in near future, and Musharraf have been in regular touch in the wake of 7.6-magnitude quake that triggered one of the world's most challenging rescue and relief operations in the mountainous region, officials said.
