A peak-hour train packed with commuters derailed in the northwest England city of Liverpool, British transport police said Wednesday, according to AP. The underground train, thought to contain about 90 passengers, came off the track as it traveled toward the city's Central Station, police said. Merseyside Ambulance Service, which covers the Liverpool region, said they had received no immediate reports of injuries. A Merseyside Police spokeswoman also said there had been no reports of injuries. She said the train derailed between Moorfield and Central Stations and the cause of the derailment was not known. A British Transport Police spokesman said there was no indication whether there were likely to be any fatalities. Merseyside Fire Service said a search and rescue team were at the scene and were helping passengers off the train.
