India on Monday was preparing to send another shipment of relief supplies for quake victims in neighboring Pakistan, officials said. The relief supplies, loaded into four railroad cars, were to reach the border town of Amritsar in northwestern India later Monday and would cross into Pakistan early Tuesday, said a defense ministry spokesman. The relief material, the third shipment sent by India to Pakistan, includes 100 tons of high protein biscuits, 10 tons each of medicine and plastic sheeting, as well as tents and blankets, said a statement by the external affairs ministry. Last week India sent two shipments of medicine, tents and other relief supplies to Pakistan where much of the damage is concentrated. The relief supplies are being sent by train to avoid adding to traffic congestion at Islamabad airport, which has been strained by foreign aircraft loaded with relief aid. Pakistan's prime minister said Sunday that cooperation with India on earthquake relief was strengthening relations between the two neighbors, who are engaged in a peace process. "We welcome their cooperation," Pakistani Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz said on CNN's Late Edition on Sunday.
