British police on Thursday charged a 31-year-old man with the murder of a 7-year-old girl and her father in a north London bedsit, Reuters reported. Joel Smith, of no fixed address, will appear before a magistrates court in London charged with the murders of 41-year old Anthony Pinnock and his daughter Toni-Ann Byfield. The girl, who had just arrived in Britain from Jamaica, was shot in the back by a hitman just after her convicted crack dealer father was also killed in October 2003. Police believe Toni-Ann was probably gunned down to stop her identifying her father's murderer. Police investigating the murders earlier this week arrested two other men, aged 30 and 22, and a 28-year-old woman. All three have been released on police bail. Detectives, who have offered a 25,000 pounds reward for information leading to the successful prosecution of those responsible, have said Pinnock, also known as Bertram Byfield, was probably killed over a drug debt which he had previously tried to collect. Five other people have previously been arrested over the murders, but all were later released without charge.
