A 20-year-old man was charged on Friday with the murder of a 14-year-old British girl who was gunned down as she walked home last week from a funfair in the city of Nottingham. Danielle Beccan died after being hit by bullets fired from a car in the St Ann's area of the city early on October 9. "The man was arrested on Monday night in London and brought to Nottingham," a police spokesman said. The man was charged with murder and will appear before magistrates on Saturday, police said. "The abhorrent nature of this crime has prompted many people throughout Nottingham's inner city to come forward," said Detective Superintendent Kevin Flint of Nottinghamshire Police. "They have been brave enough to make statements, but there are still people out there who can tell us who is responsible for Danielle's murder." The teenager's mother made an impassioned appeal on Thursday, calling for the public's help in finding the "evil scum" who killed her daughter. --More 0141 Local Time 2241 GMT
