A squadron of warships of the Russian North Fleet, including heavy nuclear-powered missile cruiser “Pyotr Veliki”, big anti-submarine ship “Admiral Chabanenko”, and two support vessels sailed out of the fleet's main base at 10.25 Moscow time on Monday, heading for Venezuela, Itar-Tass reported. Officials of the North Fleet Press Service said that "in the course of the cruise, which is being commanded by Vice-Admiral Vladimir Korolev, the Fleet's Deputy Commander, the squadron will perform several combat training tasks, including missile launchings and artillery exercises".
