Prince Khalid Alfaisal, the Governor of Assir Region of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, arrived in Lisbon, Portugal, today for a seven day official visit upon invitation from Portugal's Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Rediogo Fretas Amaryl and Minister of Culture Dr. Isabel Pelmei. He was received by representatives from the ministries of foreign affairs and culture, Ambassador of the Kingdom to Portugal Mohammed bin Homoud Alrahseed and Portugal's Ambassador to the Kingdom. During his stay Prince Khalid Alfaisal will hold a plastic arts exhibition from 7 - 14 September 2005 at the National Museum. In an arrival statement, he expressed hope that the visit would be a first step for cultural ties in addition to the existing flourishing political and economic relations between the two countries. He also wished he could, together with his companions, reflect the true picture of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's economic and cultural renaissance and give an account of the blessed steps taken by the Government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz and his trusted crown prince.
