A magnitude-7.2 earthquake shook northeastern Japan Tuesday morning, injuring at least 36 people, collapsing roofs, starting a fire and causing a small tsunami, dpa reported. The quake, initially reported as having a magnitude of 6.8 but revised upwards, struck off the coast of Miyagi prefecture, 350 kilometers northeast of Tokyo, at 11:46 a.m. (0246 GMT). Some 22 people were injured by a collapsing roof at a sports facility, and 13 were rescued uninjured after being trapped in elevators in the Miyagi prefecture capital of Sendai.
