An earthquake measuring 6.5 on the Richter scale shook Japan's northeastern Miyagi Prefecture region Saturday, but no tsunami warning was issued, UPI quoted officials as saying. The quake occurred about 75 miles off the coast of Sendai, Miyagi, about 20 miles beneath the seabed, Xinhua reported. There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage, the Japan Meteorological Agency said.
