Quds city, July 24, SPA -- Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon on Sunday denied rumors he had had a heart attack. Israel Army Radio said security officers across the country had received pager notices Sunday that Sharon had fallen ill. At a Cabinet meeting, Sharon set the record straight: "Several minutes ago, I heard a rumor that I suffered a heart attack. I want to prove that I am capable of speaking. I understand that the rumor has created an uproar, and I want to relieve or disappoint everyone: As you can see, I am in good shape," the prime minister's office quoted him as saying. The radio report said Jewish extremists, who oppose Sharon's plan to withdraw from the West Bank, were suspected of being behind the misinformation campaign. The prime minister's office and police had no comment on the radio report, according to a report of the Associated Press.
