One of India's most wanted men, suspected of involvement in a wave of bombings that killed 260 people, will be extradited from Portugal to India under an order by a Portuguese court, Portugal's Lusa news agency reported on Thursday according to Reuters. The Constitution Court upheld a ruling that approved India's request that the suspect, Abu Salem, be extradited, Lusa said. Salem has been held in Portugal since he was arrested with his wife in 2002 for fake documents and resisting arrest. A Portuguese court sentenced him to four-and-a-half years in prison in 2003. Court officials could not be immediately reached for comment. Indian police accuse Salem of being a key associate of Indian criminal figure Dawood Ibrahim, whom they say planned and financed the 1993 bombings in Bombay. They say the blasts were retaliation for religious riots triggered by the destruction of an ancient mosque in 1992.
