The senior BJP leader and the leader of opposition in Lok Sabha L.K. Advani has welcomed the statement of the Pakistan Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani that Pakistan will hand over the underworld don Dawood Ibrahim, provided India furnishes the evidence of his guilt. “I am happy about the statement firstly because it is the first time that it has been officially admitted that Dawoood Ibrahim is in Pakistan”, Advani told a press conference in Hyderabad. He had made a stopover in Hyderabad while going to Northern Karnataka for electioneering. He said there were formidable grounds for the government of Pakistan to fulfill its promise of handing over Dawood Ibrhaim, wanted in connection with the 1993 serial bomb blasts in Bombay. “So far as the guilt is concerned, a guilt has to be proved before the court of law but in case of Dawood Ibrahim, the fact that the Interpol has declared him as an absconder, the fact that USA have declared him as an international terrorist and the fact that the Indian courts, which have punished many others who ere behind the 1993 serial blasts in Bombay they have declared Dawood as an absconder from law. “These are very formidable basis for the government of Pakistan to carry out its promise of handing over Dawood Ibrahim to India for trial”, Advani said. __
