A bus crash southeast of Cairo on Sunday killed seven Egyptian passengers and injured 40 others, a police official said. The accident happened after the bus collided with a truck and overturned about 70 kilometers (43 miles) southeast of Cairo on a road leading to a Red Sea coastal city of Safaga, said the official who refused to be identified as he was not a sanctioned spokesman. The circumstances of the accident were unclear and no other vehicles were involved. The victims were taken to hospitals in Suez, a city about 100 kilometers (67 miles) southeast of Cairo. The truck driver survived, The Associated Press reported.
