Hungarian police on the Ukrainian border took into custody a man attempting to smuggle five million dollars worth of heroin, officials in Ukraine's Interior Ministry said Friday. The seizure of the 65 kilo stash came after the suspect, a Hungarian national, exited Ukraine at a crossing point in the Zakarpatska region. Hungarian border police uncovered the heroin after searching the man's personal effects. He was in detention pending narcotics charges. Ukraine's Ministry of Interior would begin its own investigation into Ukrainian staff of the Kosino-Barabash crossing site, who failed to uncover the heroin before allowing the man to leave Ukraine, officials told dpa. -- SP 2355 Local Time 2055 GMT
