U.S. President George W. Bush is spending part of his 59th birthday at a sprawling royal palace in Denmark where he stopped to thank the Danes for sending troops to Iraq and Afghanistan. A Danish pipe and drum corps played "Happy Birthday" as Bush arrived at Marienborg with his wife, Laura, and daughter, Jenna. They were greeted by Danish Prime Minister Fogh Rasmussen, his wife Anne-Mette Rasmussen and two daughters. The white mansion, located 14 kilometers (8.7 miles) north of downtown Copenhagen, Marienborg was built in 1745. It has been the official summer residence of Danish prime ministers since 1962. Bush was expected to express appreciation for the several hundred troops the Scandinavian nation has contributed to the U.S.-led fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan during his private meeting with Fogh Rasmussen. He has lunch with Queen Margrethe before leaving to attend a summit in Scotland to talk with leaders from other rich nations about the world's changing climate and aid to Africa, The Associated Press reported.
