Macedonian special police on Saturday arrested 13 ethnic Albanians in the border area near Kosovo as a part of a search for illegal weapons in the region which was controlled by National Liberation Army (UCK) insurgents during the 2001 conflict. Police raided the village of Dolno Blace on the outskirts of the capital Skopje Saturday and seized several heavy machineguns, rocket- propelled grenade launchers, Kalashnikov rifles, mortar grenades and explosives. "All weapons seized during the past two days were found in perfectly functioning condition," a police official told Deutsche Presse-Agentur dpa. "No incidents were reported." On Friday, Macedonian specialists seized two rocket-propelled grenade launchers, a heavy machinegun, an assault rifle, several artillery grenades and a large quantity of ammunition during a raid in the nearby village of Brest.
