Prince Turki Alfaisal, the Saudi Ambassador to United Kingdom and Ireland, told the Humanitarian Forum and Islamic British Relief Society's symposium in London yesterday that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia re-organized in 1992 the Islamic relief remittances coming out from people on its boundaries to the extent that some irregular organizations were forced to move their bases to the west where they receive more lenient treatment. He said several organizations were using the slogan of relief for the needy to commit wrong doings. He briefed his listeners on the strict measures taken by the Kingdom's financial authorities as regards foreign relief and charity activities. He pointed out to the formation of the National Commission for Charity Works to undertake supervision of philanthropic works abroad. Random fund-raising in the streets and markets is prohibited in Saudi Arabia, he said, adding that all money remittances are under control as well.
