The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has stressed that the activation of the role of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) depends heavily on the support of its member states. In an address, on behalf of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, delivered here yesterday at the 32nd session of the OIC foreign ministers, Assistant Foreign Minister and the Head of Saudi delegation to the session Nizar Bin Obaid Madani said that Crown Prince Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, the Deputy Premier and Commander of the National Guard, had been fully aware of what is afflicting the Muslim nation. "As such, the Crown Prince has convened a summit for Muslim leaders in Makkah, the holiest place on the earth, to discuss challenges and urgent issues." He added that the Palestinian people still suffers from the Israeli violation of international treaties and Muslims should now stand with Palestinian to establish their independent state with Al-Quds as its capital. "We are following with concern the sufferance of the Iraqi people and we hope that the peace process will complete according to the scheduled dates in Security Council's resolution 1564," Madani added. On the other hand, he also talked about the Kingdom's efforts in combating terrorism, mentioning that Saudi Arabia hosted an international conference on combating terrorism. He pointed out that the reforms in the United Nations and the expansion of Security Council's members are important issues. "In the light of its awareness about the importance of economic and commercial cooperation between the Muslim countries, Saudi Arabia supported more than 73 developed countries, most of them are Muslim countries," he said.
