Protesters demanding independence for Kosovo hurled eggs at the foreign minister of Serbia and Montenegro on Monday as he visited the province's United Nations administration. The protesters were members of a student activist group that demands immediate independence for Kosovo, without negotiation, according to Reuters. Eggs rained down from balconies opposite the U.N. compound seconds after Vuk Draskovic stepped from a U.N. police car and ducked into the U.N. building in Pristina. The convoy was pelted again as Draskovic left via the fire exit and sped through the front gates after a 20-minute "courtesy call" to Kosovo's deputy U.N. governor, American Larry Rossin. "Several people were taken in but later released," said Kosovo Police Service spokesman Refki Morina. No one was hurt. --SP 2307 Local Time 2007 GMT
