Six people were wounded Thursday in a car bomb blast in a residential district of the Bulgarian capital, police said. Police said the attack was a settling of scores between rival criminal groups. It said two of the wounded had previous drug dealing convictions, AP reported. All six injured were taken to hospital, some of them in serious condition, police said. The blast occurred at a parking lot next to an apartment building. Police sealed off the area, which was littered with shattered glass from the windows of surrounding buildings. The blast appeared to be the latest in a series of gang-style street shootings and bombings over the past year. European Union and U.S. officials have frequently criticized Bulgaria for its inability to curb organized crime.
