At least three people were killed Sunday in three bomb explosions that targeted government buildings and officials in southwestern Iran, officials said. Interior Ministry spokesman Jahanbakhsh Khanjani told The Associated Press that three people died in the blasts in Ahvaz, the capital of capital of Khuzestan province which borders Iraq. Amir Hossein Motahar, director of security at the Interior Ministry, also said there were three deaths, in comments carried by the official Islamic Republic News Agency. He said a fourth bomb was defused by experts. Witnesses in Ahvaz said at least six people were killed. The explosions come ahead of presidential elections set for Friday.
