The United States on Monday condemned the bombings in Iran that killed at least nine people ahead of upcoming elections, Reuters reported. "We condemn any act of violence that claims innocent life, and our condolences go out to the families of the victims who lost their lives, as well as to those who were injured in these attacks," U.S. State Department spokesman Sean McCormack said. The Sunday attacks took place in Teheran, where two people died, and in the provincial capital of Khuzestan, Ahvaz, where seven were believed killed, according to Iranian authorities. Forty people were hospitalized. --SP 2330 Local Time 2030 GMT
