Dollar rises, gold falls

The U.S. dollar rose against other major
currencies in European trading Monday. Gold prices fell.
The euro was quoted at US$1.2618, down from US$1.2635
Friday.

_1.2683 Canadian dollars, up from 1.2614
The British pound was quoted at US$1.8409, down from
US$1.8533.
Gold traded in London at US$419.90 bid per troy ounce,
down from US$420.10 on Friday.
In Zurich the bid price was US$419.40, down from
US$420.58.
Silver traded in London at US$6.89 bid per troy ounce,
down from US$6.91, The Associated Press reported.
